Microwave Nondestructive Evaluation (MNDE) Toolkit™
SMRC has developed a versatile, software-defined NDE system for
measuring and detecting such conditions as:
- Corrosion under paint and specialty coatings
- Precise thickness of conventional and specialty coatings
using both handheld and robotic devices
- State of cure of polymer repairs
- Erosion coating thickness on highly curved surfaces
- Gap and step mismatch on aircraft exterior panels

SMRC's MNDE technologies are derived from Navy SBIR funded
initiatives and commercial development funded through Lockheed Martin
and Bell Helicopter
status:
SMRC is under a five year $12M Navy Phase III IDIQ contract
with
multiple MNDE initiatives in process, including a multi-capability MNDE
system under full scale development. Coating thickness gauges
have already been delivered to an aerospace prime.
